Microsoft NAV 2018 Release Builds Powerful Dynamics 365 Integration

The latest major version of NAV, Microsoft’s ERP solution for small and medium-sized businesses, has been available internationally since December. In this post, we look at the main upgrades and integration cloud-based Dynamics 365 platform.

As Microsoft upgraded its Dynamics ERP environment to cloud-hosted Dynamics 365 and added seamless integration with Office tools and popular apps, so does the latest NAV come integration-ready with Dynamics 365.

In announcing the general availability for NAV 2018, Microsoft mentioned the new capabilities and enhanced built-in integration with the Dynamics 365 Sales app, several Office 365 components such as Power BI visual reporting and Flow, Microsoft’s workflow automation tool.

Important upgraded features include new user task functions to improve productivity, automated setup for faster deployment and new Excel report templates with built-in intelligence and data analytics to streamline business operations.

Furthermore, NAV 2018 benefits from the latest Microsoft Cognitive Services for image recognition of inventory Items and contacts and added improvements to the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) capabilities with the Kofax Invoice Capture Service for process improvement with digitised purchase invoices.

Consequently, Dynamics 365 (Finance and Operations) will expand throughout the year to include the full range of NAV capabilities and releases through Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) partners and Microsoft’s new ISV Cloud Embed program. The latter allows partners to embed various solutions, including Dynamics 365, Flow and PowerApps into client apps.

The seamless NAV-Dynamics 365 integration aims to offer enterprises a single business management cloud solution across key business process areas such as sales, financial management, project management, and operations.
